Light: Crocodile ferns prefer bright, indirect light. They can tolerate some direct sunlight, but too much can scorch their leaves. A location near a north or east-facing window with filtered light is ideal.
Water: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water your crocodile fern when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Use room temperature water and avoid chlorinated water, as ferns are sensitive to chemicals. If possible, use filtered or distilled water.
Humidity: Crocodile ferns thrive in high humidity environments. You can increase the humidity around your plant by using a humidifier or placing a tray of water near the plant.
Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix that is rich in organic matter.
Fertilizer: Feed your crocodile fern once a month during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced fertilizer.
Pruning: Prune your crocodile fern in the spring to maintain its shape and remove any dead or damaged fronds.
Repotting: Repot your crocodile fern every 2-3 years in a slightly larger pot to allow room for growth.
Pests: Watch out for common indoor plant pests such as spider mites, mealybugs, and scale. Wipe down your plant with a damp cloth periodically to keep these pests at bay.
